Coprinus comatus - under the Czech name common dung beetle.

A popular mushroom in gastronomy, it also has its place in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

It contains all the necessary essential amino acids.

The edible, tasty mushroom contains up to 20 amino acids, it also contains polysaccharides or perhaps protein Y3, flavonoids (vitamin P), alkaloids (ergotamine), phenols and proteins. In addition, it is full of vitamins (vitamin C, vitamins B1 and B2, adenine (B4)), minerals and trace elements (potassium, magnesium, calcium, manganese, zinc, iron and vanadium).

This is a relatively widespread mushroom that thrivesexcellently in fertilized habitats. It is typical for its up to 6 cm wide cap with dense petals that look like they are glued together. The cap is initially cylindrical and semi-spread, changing into a bell-shaped shape over time. Only young dung beetles are eaten and processed. This unusual mushroom turns from almost white to black as it ages rapidly, until it finally turns into a dark mass and more or less dissolves. A related mushroom is the ink mushroom.

In China, the mushroom is called maotou guisan or jituigu.

When consuming Coprinus, as with other mushrooms, it is not advisable to drink alcohol, as it could cause vomiting.

Coprinus comatus – use:

Usual dose: 1–2 capsules per day.
Increased dose: 3–10 capsules per day (ideally consult a doctor).
We recommend taking 5 days a week and continuing after two days.
The capsules are taken on an empty stomach (at least half an hour before a meal or 60 minutes after a meal).
It is advisable to drink the capsules with lukewarm water.
