Our folic acid supplement provides 400 μg of high-quality methylfolate in capsule form. L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate is the metabolically active form of folic acid and is found in nature. Synthetic folic acid must undergo several biochemical transformations in the body to become 5-MTHF. By supplementing with 5-MTHF instead of synthetic folic acid, you can be sure that you are getting all the benefits of folic acid.
WHAT IS FOLIC ACID?
Folic acid is a water-soluble nutrient that is part of the B vitamin family. It is essential for the formation of red blood cells.

WHAT DOES FOLIC ACID DO?
Supplemental intake of folic acid increases the mother's folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus. The beneficial effect is achieved with a daily supplement of 400 μg of folic acid for at least one month before conception and up to three months after conception in women of childbearing age.
