PABA, short for para-aminobenzoic acid, has often been considered a B vitamin because it is water-soluble. PABA is a structural component of folic acid, which is known for its many health benefits. It is considered a nutrient rather than a vitamin because bacteria in the colon of a healthy person can naturally produce PABA.
