How to make good mate:

For those who have not yet experienced the pleasure of consuming mate, Kraus invites you to try this energizing organic drink. Mate can be prepared with hot water or as a refreshing summer drink called Tereré, served with lemon juice.

Mate Kraus with hot water

Put the water in a kettle to heat, not boil. (The temperature should be around 80°C.) Be careful not to actually boil it! If you make it with boiled water, the mate will be too strong and the yerba will quickly lose its flavour.

Put some Kraus Yerba mate in your chosen gourd cup and cover the opening tightly with your hand. Turn it upside down and then place it on its right side and remove your hand. This helps the yerba settle. Dip the straw of the mate filter into the yerba with the filtered end down. If you want to sweeten the mate, add a teaspoon of sugar or honey to it. Once the water is hot, carefully pour it over the yerba and let it absorb the herbs until the mate is saturated.

Drink the first mate (it will be the strongest). In the same way, fill the mate cup with hot water and pass it on to other people to enjoy.

Mate Kraus with cold water

To achieve a good Tereré, you must put Kraus Yerba Mate in a suitable cup and insert a mate straw with the filter down. Next, prepare a jug with cold water and fresh mint leaves, or frozen lemonade or fruit juice of your choice. Pour the cooled liquid into the mate and gently stir the contents of the mate. Drink the first mate, add more liquid and pass the mate to the next person.
