Mattisson BIO Organic fiber complex - Psyllium and inulin - 275 g

The average daily fiber intake in the Netherlands is 20 grams, while the Center for Nutrition recommends consuming approximately 30 to 40 grams of fiber per day.

The Mattisson Organic Fiber Complex consists of agave inulin and psyllium fibers. Within the fiber group, you have two options: soluble (prebiotic) and insoluble fiber. Agave Inulin in this product is a soluble fiber, Psyllium is an insoluble fiber.

What is Agave Inulin?
Agave tequilana (also known as "blue agave") is an agave with blue-gray leaves. The "blue" agave cactus grows at an altitude of 1,500 meters in Mexico. It takes 6-7 years for the plant to mature and be harvested. Inulin from agave is practically tasteless and colorless and gives food a creamy texture.

This soluble fiber (prebiotic) ends up undigested in the large intestine, where bacteria break it down through fermentation into short-chain fatty acids (acetate, butyrate and propionate). These fatty acids serve, among other things, as an energy source for the intestinal epithelium. Fermentable fiber includes fiber from vegetables, fruits, potatoes, legumes and of course the inulin from this product.

What is Psyllium?
Psyllium (lupine) consists of the husks of plant seeds and contains more than 80% fiber. Psyllium fiber, like oatmeal and whole grain products, is an insoluble and non-fermentable fiber: it is not absorbed by the body, but contributes to digestion. Psyllium promotes natural bowel movements* and contributes to a feeling of fullness*.

Recommended dosage
Adults: 1 heaped tablespoon (approx. 15 g) mixed in a large glass of water, yoghurt or fruit juice 1 to 2 times a day.

Children 6-12 years: 1 heaped tablespoon (approx. 15 g) mixed in a large glass of water, yoghurt or fruit juice daily.

It is best to take in the morning before meals and there should be a 2-hour gap between taking medication and fibre.

Drink immediately as psyllium quickly absorbs large amounts of fluid and the mixture can therefore be very thick.

We recommend drinking a sufficient amount during the day (1.5 - 2 liters). If in doubt, consult your (family) doctor.
