Saffron is a spice obtained from the Crocus sativus, or "saffron crocus". It is one of the most expensive spices in the world, which is why it is also called "red gold". Crocus sativus is grown in Iran and is used as a dye, spice and medicine.

Active substances in Saffron

The main substances in saffron are the carotenoids crocetin, crocin, picrocrocin and safranal. The higher the concentration of these substances, the higher the quality of the saffron. Carotenoids are a precursor to provitamin A.

Sunfiber

This herbal supplement contains prebiotics derived from Sunfiber (fiber from guar beans). This is a water-soluble fermentable fiber that serves as a food source for the microbiome. Fermentation by our microbiome produces metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids (butyrate, propionate, acetate, among others).

Our nervous system in the brain and the nervous system in the intestines (enteric nervous system) are connected via the brain-gut axis. This means that the two influence each other. Improving the intestinal environment with prebiotics can therefore also have an impact on mental balance.
