Monacolin K is the substance that is responsible for the beneficial effect of red yeast rice on blood cholesterol levels.

Red yeast rice is produced by fermenting ordinary rice with a mold called "Monascus purpureus". This mold creates a beautiful red color. During fermentation, a substance called Monacolin K is produced. This substance is the cause of the beneficial effect of red yeast rice on blood cholesterol levels.

There are two types of cholesterol in your body, LDL and HDL. LDL cholesterol is also known as "bad" cholesterol. HDL cholesterol is the "good" cholesterol. This is because LDL cholesterol, which normally carries cholesterol to cells, can oxidize and form plaque in the veins if cholesterol levels get out of balance. HDL cholesterol, on the other hand, ensures that bad cholesterol is removed and transported to the liver, where it is broken down.

Recommended dosage:

Take 1 capsule daily.
