In addition to the essential nutrients from breast or bottle feeding and the loving care that newborns receive, it is very important to provide children with additional vitamin D. This is because newborns are not yet able to produce enough vitamin D on their own.
According to the recommendations of the Health Council, it is therefore appropriate to give children up to 4 years of age an additional 10 mcg of vitamin D per day. This recommendation takes into account the amount of vitamin D consumed through food.
The importance of vitamin D3 for infants and children
Vitamin D plays a crucial role in the development of a child. It is involved in important processes such as cell division, tissue growth and development, and strengthening immunity. Sufficient amounts of vitamin D can contribute to healthy bone development and reduce the risk of diseases such as rickets (softening of the bones) in infants. Drops are often used to provide the recommended vitamin D supplement.
Mattisson Vitamin D3 Drops
Five drops contain 10 mcg of vitamin D. The base of these drops is MCT oil, which stands for medium-chain triglycerides, a type of fat that is easily absorbed by the body.
It is important to follow the Health Council's advice and give your baby the recommended amount of vitamin D, regardless of whether they are breastfed or bottle-fed. Regular vitamin D supplementation can contribute to optimal health and development in infants. Recommended dosage:
1 x daily 5 drops under the tongue or mix in a bottle or glass of water.
Children aged 0 to 4 years: 5 drops daily (=10 mcg).
Children aged 5 to 10 years: 10 drops daily (=20 mcg).
