In addition to the essential nutrition provided by breast or bottle feeding and the unconditional love that newborns receive, it is very important to provide them with additional vitamins D and K. This is because newborns do not yet have the ability to produce these vitamins themselves. For this reason, the Health Council recommends giving infants additional vitamins D and K.

For breastfed babies, it is recommended to give an oral dose of 150 µg of vitamin K per day from the eighth day until three months after birth. This is important because at birth, babies do not yet have accumulated sufficient amounts of vitamin K, which plays a role in blood clotting and bone formation. Breastfed and bottle-fed babies are also recommended to be given an additional 10 µg of vitamin D per day until the age of 4 years. This recommendation takes into account the amount of vitamin D consumed through food.

What are the health benefits of vitamins D and K?
Vitamin D and K work together in the body as colleagues and complement each other in the distribution of calcium. Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium in the bones, while vitamin K is important for bone composition. Both vitamins play a key role during the growth and development of a child.

Vitamin D also plays an important role in other processes, such as cell division, tissue growth and development, and strengthening the immune system. It contributes to healthy bone development and may reduce the risk of diseases such as rickets.

Vitamin K is also very important. It plays a role in bone formation and contributes to proper blood clotting. This is essential to prevent bleeding in newborns.

Vitamin D3/K Drops for Infants
Drops can be used to provide the recommended supplement of vitamins D and K. A dose of five drops contains 10 mcg of vitamin D, 75 mcg of vitamin K1 and 75 mcg of vitamin K2. These drops are based on MCT oil, which stands for medium-chain triglycerides, a type of fat that is easily absorbed by the body.

It is very important to follow the Health Council's recommendations and give your baby the recommended amounts of vitamins D and K, regardless of whether they are breastfed or bottle-fed. Regular administration of these vitamins will help your baby grow and develop optimally. Always consult your doctor for specific instructions regarding dosage and method of administering vitamin D and K to your child.

Recommended dosage:
1 x daily 5 drops under the tongue or mix in a bottle. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using a vitamin K supplement if used concurrently with coumarin derivatives (anticoagulants). Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
