Vitamin K
Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin, just like vitamins A, E, and D. Fat solubility means that it is important to take vitamins with a high-fat meal or other form of fat, otherwise the vitamin will leave the body unused. Fat-soluble vitamins stay in the body for longer once they are absorbed into the metabolism. They can even be stored in tissues. Always keep this in mind with regard to overdose.

Vitamin K1 and K2
Vitamin K exists in two forms: K1 and K2. Vitamin K1 is common in typical green vegetables such as spinach, kale, broccoli, and endive. 90% of the vitamin K we get from our diet is made up of vitamin K1. Vitamin K2 is also found in our diet, but often in very small amounts. Vitamin K2 is found in cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, meat and eggs, for example. However, K2 is much less absorbable than the K1 form. Therefore, it is very important to make sure that you also get enough vitamin K2.
