The silver jelly mushroom (also known as the silver jelly mushroom in Czech) is a mushroom with a gelatinous fruiting body. It shrinks when it dries.

The mushroom is valued for its polysaccharides (heteroglycans), the monosaccharide mannose, uronic acids, triterpenoids such as lupeol and lanosterol.

It also exhibits superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and other antioxidant activities, possibly due to polyphenols. The mushroom, rich in minerals, contains potassium, calcium, sodium, iron, etc.

It grows abundantly mainly in the tropics and subtropics, where it appears on dead branches of deciduous trees. Due to its shape, it has earned nicknames such as “jellyfish” or “snow ear”.
In China, the algal jelly is clinically used as a tonic. In Mandarin Chinese, it is called yín ěr (silver ear) or xuě ěr (snow ear). In Japan, kikurage (white jellyfish).

Not only in China, but also in Japan, it is a sought-after ingredient in sweet dishes and soups. The algal jelly is popular not only in the gourmet world, but also as a mushroom used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In the kitchen, diners love it mainly for its crunchiness and softness. Tremella fuciformis is nutritious yet light.

The mushroom is well known in South and Latin America, the Caribbean, and even in some parts of North America. It is found in sub-Saharan Africa, South and Southeast Asia or on the islands in the Pacific, as well as in Australia and New Zealand. In commercial cultivation, the wild type of jelly is used on a suitable substrate. It has been documented that the mushroom has been harvested in this way in China since at least the 19th century. A similar mushroom is Leaf Jelly.

Algae Jelly – use:

Usual dose: 1–2 capsules per day.
Increased dose: 3–10 capsules per day (ideally consult a doctor).
We recommend taking 5 days a week and continuing after two days.
The capsules are taken on an empty stomach (at least half an hour before a meal or 60 minutes after a meal).
It is advisable to drink Algae Jelly capsules with lukewarm water.
